The Shanghai Innovation Bank special session of the WeStart 2025 Entrepreneurial Investment Conference was held in Yangpu district, Shanghai, on Sept 22.
The conference was jointly hosted by the Shanghai Technology Innovation Center and Shanghai Innovation Bank, and co-organized by Shengjing Bank's Shanghai Branch and Shanghai Media East China Science and Technology. It aims to establish a hub for the globalization of Chinese enterprises and foster a new growth engine resilient to economic cycles through strategic refinement, resource alignment, and systematic empowerment.
The session featured the launch ceremony for the Asia Innovation Ecosystem Alliance, with certificates presented to founding and prospective members. The alliance is dedicated to building an open, collaborative, and mutually beneficial sci-tech innovation ecosystem. By integrating resources, promoting information sharing, and fostering collaborative innovation, it seeks to provide comprehensive support and services for its members and advance technological innovation across Asia.

During the roundtable discussion, participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on hot topics such as intelligent manufacturing, life sciences, digital transformation, and AI. The conference also featured segments like the "Sci-Tech Gravity Club Key Project Capital Matching Roadshow" and an "Overseas Sci-Tech Ecosystem Roundtable," creating efficient matchmaking platforms for tech enterprises and investors.
Zhou Haiying, head of Yangpu district, met with representatives from participating enterprises and investment institutions to discuss technological innovation, investment prospects, and regional collaboration. Zhou highlighted the district's transformation from "Industrial Yangpu" to today's "Innovative Yangpu", outlining current efforts to build a modern, innovation-driven industrial system.
Zhou emphasized that innovation has been both the driving force behind Yangpu's past transformation and the engine for its future development. He said that the district will continue optimizing its business environment and fostering a sci-tech innovation ecosystem to better meet the investment and financing needs of tech enterprises and support project commercialization. He also expressed anticipation for closer cooperation with enterprises and investment institutions to jointly advance innovation-driven, high-quality development.
