On the morning of September 8, 2024, the “Analysis Report on Frontiers in Key Scientific and Technological Fields 2024”, jointly researched by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China and the Shanghai Institute for Science of Science, was officially released at the Results Release of the 17th Pujiang Innovation Forum. Attending the release conference were Shi Qian, a member of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, who delivered an opening speech, and Zhu Xueyan, deputy director of the Shanghai Institute for Science of Science, who hosted the meeting. Liu Qiyan, former deputy director of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, and Li Hangqi, an engineer from the Industrial Innovation Research Department of our institute, provided insights into the report and answered questions from journalists.
A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation has accelerated, and the world has entered a new stage of innovation competition. The report focuses on strategic fields such as energy, health, intelligence, space, and materials, which are being prioritized by major scientific and technological powers. It delves into advanced sub-fields such as advanced nuclear energy, gene therapy, intelligent computing, deep-sea exploration, and non-silicon-based chip materials. By employing methods such as literature research, expert interviews, bibliometrics analysis, patent metrics, and knowledge mapping, the report deeply analyzes development trends and competitive landscapes from perspectives including policy planning, basic research, technology development, and industrial status, aims to provide strong scientific intelligence support for the development of these fields.
In addition, based on the "Science and Technology Foresight Platform 1.0", Shanghai Institute for Science of Science first released the "Science and Technology Star Map". The map carried out the annual dynamic tracking of star science and Technology point, Nebula science and technology point and Comet science and technology point in four key directions of Shanghai's attention, including quantum computing, green fuel, brain-computer interface and nuclear fusion, to identify key technical links and important technological progress, aims to provide reference for decision-making in Shanghai's future industrial and scientific development.
